Adam Levine says Maroon 5's new music has an 'all-encompassing' kind of sound.
The Voice US coach is finalising production on his band's forthcoming album V, pronounced Five.
And frontman Adam reveals the offering is rich with diversity, as the musicians took inspiration from multiple musical genres in their songs.
'This album is very much all over the place. There's some stuff on our record that sounds a little like early Maroon 5, and then there's some stuff that sounds like the newer direction that we went in,' he explained to MTV News.
'I think that's kind of the idea behind the album. It's our fifth record. [Five] is literally part of our name. We thought we'd get back to certain elements that we'd been missing out on for a while with our original sound, but also bridge the gap with the new stuff that we've been doing. I think it's an all-encompassing kind of record.'
Gwen Stefani cut a track with Maroon 5 on the new LP, much to Adam's delight.
He absolutely adores the No Doubt songstress and the star also appreciates her contribution to his band's album.
'She's incredible. It was so much fun,' Adam gushed. 'We just sat around and talked for hours. It was so fantastic getting to know her. I'm a huge fan of hers.'
Unfortunately Adam doesn't know much about the song Gwen lent her vocals to.
Apparently the tune is still being revamped at the moment, but a final title isn't far off.
'It's being mixed right now, so I literally have not even named the song yet,' he said. '[It's] probably gonna be between two titles.'
Maroon 5's V will be released in September.
